8-EIGHT-OCHO

My little Bubba.  He was only 4 hours short of being a Leap Year Baby.

He loves hearing the birth story, and he does wish he would have waited that 4 hours.

"If I had only waited 4 more hours, I'd only be turning 2"  he says.

I would have just liked him to have waited for the doctor to get into the room.

Bubba is a smart smart smart kid.

He loves math.
He has a quick sense of humor.
His last report card was straight As.

He is active in wrestling, football, baseball and cub scouts. (Which makes me a crazy Mom, just sayin.)

I love this boy.  I can't believe he's 8.

It better not rain on my parade...anymore....

The weather here is CRAZY.

I think Mother Nature is throwing a tantrum.

Dear Mother Nature.
Please stop.
The rain, the lightening, the thunder....THE MOTHER LOVING HAIL...it's enough.
Please.
Don't rain on my parade.
Thank you.

Stacie-The birthday girl and LOVER of all things 4th of July related.

*sigh*

I left the house this morning.  The lightening was flashing in the sky.  No rain, in fact one half of the sky was kinda bright and hopeful looking, the other half of the sky had angry clouds and lightening.  I think they were in a stare down - those two fronts.

The dark clouds took over as I drove closer to work and then BAM. Hail.  I had to pull over.  I thought the shit was gonna bust through the windshield, therefore injuring me before my awesome birthday weekend.  Not happening.  So there I sat, on the side of the road, no protection.

I was a sitting duck at hunting season.

The hail pounded on the outside of my van, threatening to dent every inch of my Mom mobile.  It was LOUD too.  I felt like a kernel inside a microwave popcorn bag.  It was crazy.  It last a good 10 minutes (TWSS) until it was safe to drive again.

My van did get dented.  Meh.

It better stop raining and being ugly out.  THIS IS MY WEEKEND...and I want to enjoy it.  Every second of it.  I hope you all have a wonderful holiday weekend.

Randoms again?!?!?!?!

We colored eggs with Mr.FF and his boys last week.

Me:  Thanks for sharing your eggs with us...

MrFF:  I wish you'd share your eggs with me, but they don't work.

Me:  Oh they work, they're just protected by a shell called MIRENA.

***

I'd like to report that all boiling of eggs went successfully this year.  Mr.FF did all the boiling.

***

On the way to work this morning...the radio talking about the up-coming Royal Wedding.

Buggy: What are they talking about?
Me:  The Royal Wedding, between, um, Prince Harry??? and Kate something.
Bubba from the backseat:  Prince William, Mom.

Me: *jaw hits floor*  then to  *giggles*

***

My Mom got this for us...Brainetics.  She's pissed because we still haven't watched it and now she has to pay for it because we've had it longer than 30 days.  I told her not to buy that crap for us.

Her:  It's not crap Stacie, watch the damn dvd.

She's testy in her old age. *ducks*
(Dammit, just realized her Birthday Post didn't post over the weekend...boooo)
***

Here is what should have posted Saturday...on my Mom's birthday...

54.
Today is my Mom's 54th birthday.

Happy birthday Mom, I love you.

We really wish we were there to give you your birthday spankings kisses.

Seven.

Today, February 28th, is my Bubba's SEVENTH birthday.

*claps*

Feb 20th we celebrated Bubba's SEVENTH year life.  Or as MR.FF put it, we celebrate SEVEN years I've managed to live through life with Bubba.  OR SEVEN years and Bubba still has life.

I kid.  He can really be a good kid when he's paid.

Mr.FF made the cake...
ninja cake

Bubba read his birthday cards...so cool to hear your child read...

Bubba showed his party animal side.

I kept an eye on things....

Faceoff

It was a good party. :)

Here is his birth story, not gory... :)

He really has improved since last year...I think (I hope) that he is finally settling into our life now together, just us three in our house. So much for him has changed over the last year, with the finalization of the divorce, the new house, the new significant others. It seems that lately he's really started to settle in with all of the changes.

His fits are less and less, not that they are gone, but I'd say he's more to the "normal" side in number of fits, if there is a "normal" side.

He hasn't gotten into any trouble at school for the most part, nothing of the sexual nature anyway.

And maybe I am delusional. I don't know...but lately it has seemed more tolerable...and better. When I'm not pmsing .

Counseling is going well, she has good things to say about Bubba and she strongly feels that nothing has happened to him (again, back story, he has said and drawn some pretty explicit sexual things, that a boy his age should not know...which has the school and me concerned for him). However, we will continue in counseling until we feel it isn't of benefit to him anymore.

He is doing well in wrestling and when I say well, I don't mean in wins (he's had two)...but his attitude on the mat and immediately following the matches has been impressive to me. I really thought it was gonna be ugly...but it hasn't...and I tell him all the time how proud I am of him for having a good sportsman like attitude. I only ask that that same attitude follow him home sometimes.

He's so handsome. :)

I love you my Bubba-rooski!!

I will love you forever. Happy birthday Bud. :)

It was so awesome *I* almost wanted a permed mullet

One of Mr.FF's birthday presents...

chicago 7 17 10

I have not been paid for this post....just sayin...nor was I even asked to post about this....but here's my thoughts on the venue, the concert and Mr.FF's face when they played one of his favorite Chicago songs.

The Charter One Pavilion in Chicago.

Our ticket price included parking at Soldier Field...which you might know...I adore Soldier Field.  Due to some scheduling issues, we were 45 minutes late for the start of the concert...however...we pulled right into the parking garage and got a parking spot with NO PROBLEM.

Our other option was to park closer to the venue, price NOT included in the ticket price and it would have been a cool $30.  I thought for sure we were going to be left with that as our only option, but was really surprised that that wasn't the case!

(And it's Soldier Field, yo. Go Bears)

So we park and start walking out of the garage...waiting by the sidewalk was a lovely trolley to take any concert goers over to Northerly Island.  I don't know why I didn't get my camera out at this point, but it really was a lovely trolley/bus thing.  It was clean and the driver was friendly.  Best of all, he had CHICAGO blaring on the radio.  It put a smile on our faces.  We were psyched.

The trolley let us off and you could hear the concert.  The beach and lake were to our left, the city to our right.  People lounging in the park, relaxing, grilling, playing, and just enjoying a beautiful night.  I am sure the music didn't hurt either.

charter one pavilion

We walked a little ways to the entrance of the venue.  We were greeted with very friendly staff, a gracious beer vendor...and they had these portable semi truck looking porta-potties.  I am not even remotely kidding you that it was as clean as...as...well I don't know.  What I do know is that I didn't get the heebee jeebees peeing in there...at all.  It didn't stink...it had running water to wash....oh and (look at me all excited about the bathrooms) a FOOT FLUSH...  right???  NO need to touch anything by the toilet!!!

Anyway, (jeesh enough about the bathrooms)...since we were late the Doobie Brothers were already 3/4 of the way through their show...the aisles in between the padded folding chairs were large enough to stand/dance/sing/enjoy the concert.  So instead of getting in any one's way trekking through to our seats we stood/danced/sang/enjoyed the Doobie Brothers from the aisle.

I don't know many Doobie Brothers songs...but they were good and entertaining for the little bit that we saw of their show.

During intermission we located our seats.  I don't think there is a BAD seat at the venue unless you are on the far extreme sides of the stage.  Our seats were left of center and in the second section back.  However.

Here is my ONLY complaint...and it has nothing to do with the venue, performers or my awesomest date.

The section we were sitting in...SAT during CHICAGO playing.

I know...that is just crazy.  I do not go to concerts to sit on my ass.  I like to dance/sing act a fool..so about three songs into Chicago we ditched the seats.  We headed back to the aisle and it truthfully was MUCH more enjoyable out in the open area.

Oh Mr.FF and I were LOVING the concert!!

I LOVE that 1) we can be gay together. 2) we really enjoy a lot of the same things. 3) we are true band geeks.  Every time the "horny sections" came up so did the hairs on our arms.

A few times I would felt like my cheeks were hurting from smiling, then I would turn and see that he too was smiling.  It was just really awesome.

If I may gush (ew) for one more second.  When Mr.F's face lights up?  It is one of them most handsome faces I've seen.  His eyes light up, his dimples deepen, his smile beams across his face.  It makes me melt inside.  For real.  Knowing that on this particular night, I had a small part in putting that life into his face, made me so happy.

So, with all my heart...this was one of the most fun birthdays ever, even if it was your 36 23rd.

MR.FFs 36th birthday

I will leave you with this one last tidbit. The crowd at this concert was pretty diverse in the ages category, however there was one common theme that Mr.FF and I were noticing.

Noticing it SO MUCH that I finally had to break out the camera, because I didn't know if you all would believe me or not...

Ready?

There were a lot of THESE....

permed mullet

Oh, yeah. Permed Mullets.
That's Chicago Hot.

doobie brothers and chicago

Great concert, awesome venue, and even more friggen fantastic Mr.FF!!

Tomorrow is Mr.FF's 36th birthday....muahahahah

OOOOH MR.FF

See, I never wanted to edit my blogging.  Especially because someone I know reads, but dammit.

Here's all I've heard since I blogged the poop issue yesterday.

Senorita Shit Saver.
Princess Poop Procrastinator.
Miss Massive Dump Masker.
Diva Deuce Deny-er.

Hilarious.  Really.  I am just laughing away.

Ya know, it's Mr.F's birthday tomorrow.  He can tell everyone all day long that it's his 23rd birthday AGAIN for the 13th time.  What I plan to do is a be a HUGE PARTY POOPER.  Oh yeah that's right.

I'm gonna load up on my fiberlicious bars, maybe eat a bowl or two of the super poop inducer Fiber One cereal...and I'm gonna poop on his parade.  Wanna tease me do ya?  The poop's hitting fan Mr.

Party Pooper Plotter.
Oh Mr.F....

So yes, it is Mr. F's birthday TOMORROW.  I had to give him his present early, sadly.  Working out schedules with kids/exes proved to be too difficult for me to handle alone...so I had to give him his surprise last night.

Chicago/Doobie Brothers tickets!!! :-)

Happy 36th birthday (tomorrow), dear.
You are the shit.  I mean it.

SO, what kinda of cake do you get/make a master baker?  I'm thinking this might be fitting...

i LOVE the 4th

I'm giddy.
I love the 4th of July.
The parade, the fireworks, the parties, the family/friends...not to mention a very special someone's birthday is the day after the 4th.
Flag Waving

*innocent smile*

(pssttt a nice present would be you clicking for my nomination to best *giggle* parenting blog...just sayin)

Flag held high

I will have one kid Friday for fireworks, both kids Saturday for step dad's party, both kids for the parade. Then they will go (most likely, I still have to talk to Buggy to make sure she WANTS to go) with Captain Cancel until Tuesday.

They will be gone for my birthday. I am a little sad about it, but I did say it was OK. I am already conjuring up things I can do that I can't do while the kids are around.

LIKE...go see Eclipse...or float in the pool, with no noise but the radio.

During the day it's not a big deal, it's the night that I fear a little sadness.

Dinner? For one? I bought steaks, guess I will save those for another night.

I am not sure what Mr.F is doing that night...but I am sure at some point I will see him.

His birth story...

Yesterday's picture was Bubba...
He really wanted to stick his face in the cake...so he did...
Boys.

*rolls eyes*

He had a great birthday.

I can't believe he is going to be six. (Real birthday is 2/28)

Do you know the percentage of woman whose water breaks in public? It's not very high.

Mine did. With both kids.

Buggy I was at work.

Bubba, I was at Lowes.

Here's what I remember.

We had just bought our house, we were shopping four days before my due date for tile and things to make improvements on our new home.

I felt fine. Large, but fine.

We were in the tile aisle I felt the need to pee. I made five trips to the bathroom in the short time we were there. Employee's faces started to look concerned. I am sure my look was of a woman who had to pee a lot.

By my last trip, I started thinking. Hmmm, could this be my water? With Buggy it was undeniably my water breaking. It made the noise and splattered everywhere.

TMI?

This was just a trickle. A constant trickle.

We decided that maybe we should have this checked out, after all the hospital was just across the street.

I remember standing outside while the Lowe's people loaded our truck with our home improvement purchases that they were moving pretty quickly. A woman approached me, she touched my belly and looked me straight in the eyes.

"God bless you."

Was all she said, but the look in her eyes was so full of love and warmth.

I must have had an "OH shit, I'm in labor look" on mine.

We arrived at the hospital around 11 am and sure enough, the amniotic sac had sprung a leak. I was admitted and monitored.

As with Buggy, I was contracting and didn't even know it. However the contractions weren't strong enough to make any labor progress so I was hooked up to that lovely pitocin drip.

HOLY SHIT. Things started happening...and I couldn't stand the pain any longer.

With Buggy, my first, I wanted to be all super mom, deliver without the epidural. I did have drugs with her, they were potent, but didn't help kill any of the pain. Seventeen hours of PAIN. With my second delivery I wasn't going to be so stupid. I WANTED that epidural.

By 4 centimeters, 8 pm, I was told I could have my happy meds if I so wished.

"UMMMM, YES PLEASE." I said through gritted teeth.

While the nurse went to call my doctor to get the epidural OK'd and to let her know my progress the pain came quick and hard.

I breathed, I stared at the ceiling, trying to not focus on how badly it hurt.

"I feel like pushing..." I said on my exhale. My mother-in-law pushed the call button and this is when all the shit (not literally, thank God, I hear it's pretty normal for woman to have a bowel movement on the table, but I did not. How embarrassing if I had though, just sayin) hit the fan.

This baby was coming and coming fast. There were nurses flittering in and out of the room all with panic covering their faces.

I breathed, I stared at the ceiling, hoping that SOMEONE would deliver this watermelon of a child.

A face pops into my line of staring, it was the nurse.

"DO NOT PUSH," she pleaded. "The doctor is not here yet!"

I breathed, I stared at the ceiling, cursing her in my mind, trying so hard to ignore the pushing urge.

"Call the ER doctor, this baby is not going to wait." I heard someone say.

People were in and out of the room, hubby's face was white and I am not sure where MIL was at this point.

What I can tell you is that the ceiling was a drop ceiling with the pitted tiles, the florescent light was bright with a plastic cover that had star like holes in it.

A man, young, flew into the room next, the ER dr I concluded. A nurse was literally on the bed with me, her hands in my crotch holding my child in to avoid delivery.

The ER doctor's face was as pale as hubby's, he couldn't even get his gloves on without help from the nurses. As he was getting his gown tied he stepped over to the bed, the nurse removed herself from the perch she had taken over my body and *whoosh* baby was born.

He slide right out. I saw every hand fly up in the air, not celebratory like, but in a whoa, I'm not catching that; are you? Luckily the bed never was broken down to the delivery table and my newborn had a resting place to slide out onto.

Finally the ER dr decides he should probably be active in this delivery, he picked up my baby, and declared, "It's a BOY!"

Shouts were heard from the hallway, tears flew out of my eyes, nurses all congratulated us on our new baby boy. Just as they got the baby to the warming thingy for newborns my doctor finally arrives.

She looked like a beautiful angel walking into the room, but at that blissful moment of relief EVERYONE looked like an angel to me. I was no longer in pain, even the Bertha nurse that had practically sat on me to stop me from delivering was beautiful.

My doctor assessed my area for damage, delivered the placenta and we were all left to finally meet our baby.

8:20 pm, February 28th 2004 my son was born. 7lbs 14oz 21 inches long.

Total active labor, five hours and fifty minutes.

He was a peanut compared to his sister, but he was mine.

All boy and lovin it.

Glutton for Punishment

I don't know why I do these things to myself.

I guess I like inflict stress on myself.

I think it was two birthdays ago, I was preparing to mail out invitations to Buggy's birthday. I was having this pain in my chest, like heart burn. Two invitations stared at me in the face waiting for postage.

I procrastinated sending those invites for days. Just those two invites. When I finally made a decision to NOT send them that pain in my chest disappeared.

Panic attack, I concluded.

Those invites were to my dad and my aunt.

This year for Bubba's birthday, no panic attack feeling occurred. So I mailed out those invites.

It wasn't until the night before Bubba's party, that I felt that "oh shit" feeling. It wasn't too debilitating so I chalked it up to nerves.

It ticks me off that I am nervous to have "FAMILY" members coming to my house. These family members however have been in and out of my life.

In fact, when I've talked to my kids about my "father" they've asked if he was dead. They don't know him and quite frankly neither do I. Sadly for my father, he doesn't know us either. He's missed out.

Saturday morning one call confirmed that all invites were received and they would be in attendance to the party.

I started sweating bullets. It has been years since I've even seen my dad. I've only talked to him briefly a few times in the past year.

For some reason I feel like I have something to prove to him. I want him to see where we live, see how well his daughter has done regardless of his involvement. I want him to see how I look since joining weight watchers two years ago. I want his approval or at the very least for there to be some sort of regret in his eyes to see us and what I have become despite it all.

He and his wife came to the party, it was awkward to say the least. I reintroduced my kids to their grandfather, while gritting my teeth. I held on to their shoulders as I stood them in front of this man, as if to protect them. I felt like saying, "hey kids, this is your grandfather, but don't get too closely, you might not see him again." or "Get a good look, he's not dead, but he might as well be".

In addition to my father and his wife, my aunt and gramma from my father's side of the family were there. It felt like people that I don't know were there, my aunt on several occasions mentioned we needed to get together more often. The time had gone too far in between our last visits. It felt forced and uncomfortable.

Until they left the party, which they all did. Early. Before cake. I was a nervous flittery butterfly, trying to talk to everyone but mostly to avoid anymore awkwardness from their corner of the room.

By the end of the night, I had a headache the size of the years that have passed and today instead of a pain in my ass, it's a stress bubble in the middle of my back.

Why do I do this to myself?

Glutton for punishment much?

Geez.

Where'd the week go?

It's Friday already, I haven't even told you all about the move.

As you can see, closing went well. Actually, this whole process was pretty painless. I'm not saying there weren't bumps, there were, but nothing so major that will leave scars.

So I closed on Friday and started moving stuff in the Saturday after. Luckily, most of my furniture was stored right there in the garage of Peed Bush. So when I say "moved" I mean, from the garage to it's resting place in the house. A short move, really. We focused the whole day to getting the big stuff in. (That's what she said).

Sunday was getting essentials unpacked, clothes, undies, and the likes...at 2pm people came over for Buggy's 9th Birthday. I was so proud.

Proud of my beautiful daughter.
september09 066
(haha, just noticed her brother ON THE TABLE in the background)

Proud of my handsome son.
september09 062
(yes, those are underwear on his head. Anyone see lamp shades in this boy's future?)

Proud of our "new" home.
Aug09 085

Proud to have the friends that I do and proud of the family that came to the party.
Because of the divorce of my parents, my stepdad and his family DID not come to the party. Sadly. However, I had the back up plan set before I could even let the sadness settle.

I had been contacted by a member of Ex#2's family. Asking to be invited if we were having a birthday party. Therefore, I talked to Ex#2 and he said, invite all of his family. So it was settled.

I was proud of Ex#2 for attending the party.
I was proud of Ex#2's family that put aside personal feelings about OUR divorce to come and celebrate a CHILD'S day.

I was proud of ME.

Really, isn't that the best part of it all?

Being PROUD of YOURSELF?

I kept saying, this is MY house, this is MY furniture, this is MY life. As surreal as it all felt and still feels...it's AMAZING. It's about time I feel PROUD of me AGAIN!

Semi Wordless...

US

This was actually taken on the 5th, which was a much nicer day weather wise. We were at our second parade for the weekend, as you can tell, did not thrill Bubba.

Later I added myself to the not thrilled party, when this is what I served for dessert.

You Capture, Week 2 "Perspective"

It's week TWO...for You Capture.

Photobucket

This week's "assignment" was Perspective. I struggled. Mostly because my LAST WEEK'S photo was MY BEST Perspective picture to date. So to try to come up with something different that was AS GOOD (in my eyes) was a little more difficult.

When I think of perspective, I immediately think of flowers and outdoorsy stuff. Right now, our "outdoorsy" looks nasty, ugly brown, winter funk. So...I went with the birthday boy's party. Enjoy!

feb28,2009

The five from my view? It's gone so fast.

feb28, 2009 b

The five and cake from HIS view? Total excitement.

This cake was made by my Sister-n-law, it is SPECIFICALLY (if you can't tell) an Indiana Jones Lego cake, requested by Bubba. SIL, came through, big time! Great cake!

Ok, check back NEXT week for another challenge.

The things an *almost* five year old says....

"Mom? Can we go and buy me some white pants?"

(me) "Um, white pants? I don't think they sell white pants after labor day."

*****

"Dad, can you ask your mom to make some of her DELICIOUS macaroni and cheese for my birthday party?"

*****

"Mom? I want that for my birthday."
(again, thank you Nickelodeon for all the damn toy commercials)

****

"Mom, for my next birthday, can we have Mario and Luigi birthday plates?"

"Sure, bubs, can we get through THIS birthday first?"

****
"I don't want to wear a cup for my marbles."

"Bubba, you HAVE to protect your privates when you play t-ball, it's a rule."

I'm not bustin your balls. <--no quotes, I didn't say that out loud, thankyouverymuch.

****
"Can I open sister's presents? I will let her open FIVE of mine at my party."

Buggy is not home, she has presents from Christmas that my Aunt dropped off (family of procrastinators, that's what we are!) It is KILLING Bubba that she hasn't been home to open them.

****
"Mom, will you turn on Sponge Bob? OH! I haven't seen this...oh wait, yes I have."

"I know you have because *I* have seen it like a million times...IN PASSING."

****

Beth at I should be folding laundry, always interviews her kids for their birthday. I love the idea, so I am going to ask him a few questions too. This is word for word our conversation...

Me: Bubba, how old are you going to be?

Bubba: Five.

Me: What do you want to be when you grow up?

Bubba: uh, uh, uh a Superhero

Me: What superhero?

Bubba: Batman, because he has a gun that shoots a rope and then it has lines and then um, it gets on to somethin and then he pulls the thing that...that...that...real guns do and it makes him go up.

Me: What's your favorite food?

Bubba: tomatoes and yogurt, can I have a yogurt?

(I get up to get him yogurt and strawberries.)

Me: Who do you like more, Mommy or Daddy?

Bubba: Momm....um, both

Me: What do you like most about Mommy?

Bubba: *chirp chirp* what?

Me: Nothing, what's your favorite color?

Bubba: red and blue, orange and white and brown....and pink...and purple and yellow.

Me: *laugh*

Bubba: and gray

Me: *laugh*

Bubba: what? Mommy? *sheepish grin* I do, I like all of those.

Me: Yes, but do you have a favorite?

Bubba: Yes...all.of.them.

ME: OK.

Me: What kind of cake are you going to have on this birthday?

Bubba: Indiana Jones Chocolate Chip.

Me: Are you excited about Kindergarten?

Bubba: Yes.

Me: Are you done with this interview?

Bubba: *stares at Spongebob in T.V.* no.

Me: How much do you love me?

Bubba: All the way to the outer space and all the way back.

Me: Can I have a kiss?

Bubba: *kiss, runs back to T.V.*

Me: I love you, my big boy.

*cries a little, where does the time go?*

(Bubba runs back in and pokes his sister'S presents AGAIN.)

That concludes, the things my *almost* five year old has said lately and his birthday interview.

My favorite picture of Bubba, over this last year.
